2026 News Update - First Quarter.

How is it April already? At time of writing it is the Bank Holiday Monday of Easter, where Easter school has just happened. Paul W and I went down on the Saturday where Soke Gwyne was on form and awesome as ever. Lots to take in and lots to reflect on.

In particular from the last two courses I've come away with, Hamni Handachi, and a fitness combination involving iriminage, kodegeshi, rokkyo and sankyo. Both techniques are ones we'll be utilising at the club to help develop everyone's mat fitness in the coming weeks.

Vicky, Jack and their family are currently having a great time in Japan where Jack has been training at the Hombu Dojo in Tokyo. Both Vicky and Jack have been sharing their experience where as a club we're enjoying and celebrating such an amazing experience for them. Just an amazing experience to witness, knowing that club members are having such a great time in Japan, is making me smile even as I type.

Apart from Jack, Paul, Vicky and I attending the Association courses, the club has been steadily ticking away with everyone quietly progressing. We've had some members needing time away from training for various personal reasons. It's something that can have an impact on the club but ultimately, everyone away remains active and is close to returning to train.

Life can be hard at times where as a club we understand and are supportive of our members both on and off the mat. It's what makes us a great community.

Next news update will be in June/July, until then stay safe and have fun training.

Osu!

Sensei Marc.
